JA Finance Park Field Trip

JA Finance Park is an experiential learning program located in JA’s administrative offices in Detroit. Middle and high school students visit the park after four weeks of teacher led instruction. A member of the JA staff provides the educational content and instructions for volunteers and students throughout the day. Upon arrival at the park, the students are provided with a life scenario and become adults for a day. They participate in a monthly personal budgeting experience by shopping at storefronts sponsored by area businesses, paying bills and learning if they spent within their budget.

During the simulation at JA Finance Park the students used tablets to create their budgets and made choices about how they could live within their means. They received debit cards and swiped at various storefronts to pay bills.

Mrs. Hess’s students had an amazing experience this week at JA Finance Park!

Happy Mother’s Day

To all of our mothers or those filling the role of a mother figure in the life of one of our students, we wish you a wonderful weekend!

End of the year behavior reminders

As the weather gets warmer and summer nears, we usually see an uptick in behavior issues. If students do not follow our rules, there will be a consequence issued that could result in a multiple day removal from school at this point in the year. Please remind your student of the following:

  • Fighting will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic multi-day out of school suspension, regardless of prior behavior issues
  • Students are not permitted to be on their phones
  • Students running in the hallways will lose privileges of being in the hall with other students – ISS will also be assigned due to the safety issue running brings
  • Disrespect to teachers or other students will not be tolerated and will result in an in school or out of school suspension
  • Leaving class without permission will result in an in-school suspension

All 8th grade Chromebooks will be collected on May 31, 2023. We will clean out lockers this week as well. Once lockers are cleaned out, students will not be permitted to bring a backpack to school.

Rocket Launch/Celebrate Wayne

On Monday, all 8th grade students will visit the high school they will attend in the fall. If you do not want your child to attend, please email me at eatone@wwcsd.net.
