Thank you so much for your attendance at parent teacher conferences this week. Please do not ever hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher with questions or concerns you have. It is very important to make a habit of monitoring your child’s grades through Parent Connect weekly.

Adams Middle School Parent Survey
As we begin our journey as Adams Middle School, it is very important for us to develop a strategic plan. Part of developing this plan is to create a school vision statement. A vision statement describes where we hope to see our school in the future.
According to the Task Force on Developing Research in Educational Leadership (2003) schools must have a vision that all staff members recognize as a common direction of growth, something that inspires them to be better. An effective vision allows our parents, teachers and students to clearly understand the direction we are headed. We invite you to take this survey as we begin to develop our school’s strategic plan. Once we have developed a vision for AMS, we will seek input from all stakeholders on how we achieve our vision by developing our mission statement.
Mr. October Foundation STEM Programming (Open to Virtual Learners Too)
We have been provided the opportunity to partner with the Mr. October Foundation and engage our students in STEM programming in an effort to “bridge the digital divide.” More information about the program and foundation can be found here.
We invite your student to participate in our first teacher led virtual STEM project. Students will be learning about LED’s, the use of batteries, as well as series and parallel circuits by building their very own game of Operation!
Today, Friday, November 13th and Monday, November 16th, the school will be open for you to pick up the kit your student will need for this project between the hours of 9am and 3pm. We have 100 kits available on a first come, first serve basis. There will be other opportunities if this activity fills up quickly.
Students will be assigned a group and groups will meet virtually to complete the project together. Mr. James, our instructional coach and Ms. O’Connor, one of our science teachers will lead the project virtually. Your group number, meeting times and Google Meet information will be provided when you pick up the kit. Below are the days and times this project will be offered. Your child will need to commit to being present during the sessions your student is assigned to. You will be provided with the opportunity to choose your group at pick-up until one is filled and we only have one option left.
Wednesday, November 18th from 3pm – 5pm
Monday, November 23rd from 3pm – 5pm
Wednesday, December 2nd from 3pm – 5pm
Monday, December 7th from 3pm – 5pm
We will remain in a distance learning mode until January 19th. The school office will only be open to parents on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 am until 3:20 pm by appointment. If you need something on Tuesday or Thursday, please call the office. If there is no answer, please leave a message and someone will return your call. Sports team practices will continue as scheduled regardless of the day.
If you did not pick-up quarter 2 materials, please call your child’s counselor to schedule an appoint to do so.
Below you will find the team game schedules. Please note that only two spectators per participant will be allow at games. We will not be making exceptions to this in order to comply with the MHSAA guidelines. It is expected that you wear a mask at all games and sit a minimum of six feet away from any other spectators outside of your family members.
Please note, there will be a change to the game scheduled on November 30, 2020.
Please return these ASAP. These were passed out at material distribution. You can drop these off on M/W/F or scan and email them back.
Please see the flyer below for more information regarding our virtual program.
