9/11: We Remember | PBS North Carolina

Dear Families,

We hope you have a great weekend!  Please take the time to read all sections of this update so you have current information regarding things occurring at Adams and in the district.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to one of us directly at eatone@wwcsd.net or sheppardl@wwcsd.net.

Sincerely,

Student Walkers

Please ask your child to use the sidewalk if they walk to school.  We have several students walking along the road that cars enter on when dropping off students.  We want to keep our Eagles safe and need them to use the sidewalk as they approach the school.

Dismissal

Please do not park next door at the Adams Senior Village complex.  We have gotten calls that report cars from Adams are parking in resident parking spaces.  Please do not block their drive or park on their property.

7th and 8th Grade Parents – Save the Date!

We will hold parent meetings on September 28, 2021 to discuss a 7th grade trip to Chicago and an 8th grade trip to Philadelphia.

7th Grade – 6:00 pm

8th Grade – 7:00 pm

School Expectations

Please continue to review expectations with your student.  We focus on being safe, respectful and responsible at Adams.  Also remind your student that we are an off and away for the day school and we do not permit cell phone use at any time.  Each student has his or her own locker to lock phones in if they bring it to school.

OK2Say Presentation

The Michigan Attorney General’s office will present OK2SAY student safety programming on September 29, 2021 at Adams Middle School.

Students in 6th – 8th grade learn what the OK2SAY program is, how it works, what types of incidents they can report, how to submit a tip, and what will happen with the tip. Students then get detailed explanations about bullying, cyberbullying, suicide, sexting, sexual abuse, the predator threat, and how to protect themselves online. Students see a video about the power of words, the deceptive ways internet predators target teens, along with a video featuring students from Michigan that have tragically died by suicide due in part to bullying. Through the presentation, these students are encouraged to stand up for themselves and their peers and to always be mindful of the power of their words.

We will share videos for you to preview prior, as well as the option to opt your child out of this.  More information and resources are available on the OK2SAY website (ok2say.com).
