Welcome Back!

Dear Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school in just a couple of short weeks!  This memo is filled with important information. Please take the time to read all sections so you are up to date with current information and understand what needs to be completed prior to school beginning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to one of us directly at eatone@wwcsd.net or bukoskysm@wwcsd.net.

Sincerely,

Erin Eaton & Stacie Bukosky

Meet the Principals

My name is Erin Eaton and I serve as the Principal of Adams Middle School. My educational career began as a teacher in 2004. I was hired after graduating from Eastern Michigan University by the Gibraltar School District. I spent fourteen years as a teacher in the district teaching Young Five’s, Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 3rd grade. In 2007, I received my Master’s Degree in teaching from Marygrove College, and in 2018 received my Specialist in Education degree from Central Michigan University. Through this program, I obtained my administrative certificate. In 2018 I was hired by WWCS to serve as the Assistant Principal of Adams Upper Elementary, moving into the principal role in 2019 where I have remained since, as we transitioned to a middle school.

My husband and I have two middle school children. Our daughter is entering 6th grade, and our son 8th. I have recently started coaching softball again for my daughter’s travel team, something I love doing and have missed. We love English Bulldogs and have Jones, a two year old, and recently adopted Dennis, an eight year old.

I look forward to a fantastic year as your partner in your child’s educational journey. I can be reached at eatone@wwcsd.net at any time with questions you have about Adams.

My name is Stacie Bukosky and I am your child’s Assistant Principal. I have been an educator for 12 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from EMU and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. As a teacher, I taught English/Language Arts (ELA). I taught at Franklin Middle School, then took the leap to teach High School at Wayne Memorial. I have always been highly involved in the Wayne-Westland school community. I immersed myself in coaching, committees, student events, and educational opportunities. In 2019, I interviewed to be the Assistant Principal at Wayne Memorial and was awarded the position. I absolutely love being a building leader. I enjoy working with the students and hearing their stories. I am passionate about guiding our youth in a positive direction.

I am married and have three children. My girls both graduated in 2022 and have started college. I have a daughter attending the University of Tennessee, and another attending Grand Valley State University. My son will be a junior in High school. We have a dog, she is a shorkie. Her name is June and she is definitely spoiled.

I can be reached by email at bukoskysm@wwcsd.net or by phone at (734) 419-2375. I am excited to be working with the students at Adams, and I look forward to a wonderful school year with you and your child.

Material Distribution Days

Chromebooks and schedules will be distributed on August 18/19, 2022. We will also have Lifetouch onsite taking fall pictures. The building will not be open for touring at this time. We will have Open House (information below) to allow you and your student to tour the building prior to school starting. Please complete the technology agreement form found here to expedite Chromebook distribution prior to material distribution. Thank you!

Schedule Changes

We work very hard to create schedules based on student elective choices and academic needs.  We will not honor any schedule changes after the first week of school and will only make changes during week one for the following reasons:
  • Your student has previously taken the class
  • Health reasons
  • Academic misplacement (i.e. if your student was placed in the wrong class such as an advanced class)
Schedules will not be changed for the following reasons:
  • Student does not like the teacher
  • Student wants to be with friends
  • Student wants a different lunch period
  • Student feels the teacher gives too much work
  • Student wants to change class because he/she does not want to do the class work or has not done the reading/required work.

Our counselors will be very busy assisting with material distribution at our Open House, and will not have time to discuss schedules during these events. If you have questions about your child’s schedule, you will be required to schedule an in-person or phone appointment with your child’s counselor. Thank you for understanding.

COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY PROVISION (CEP)

Wayne-Westland Community Schools will be participating in a new option available to schools as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the school year 2022-2023

The GREAT NEWS is that ALL students enrolled at our school are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at NO CHARGE to your household each day of the 2022-2023 school year.

We are asking that you fill out and sign the Application for Household Information Report which is located on the Meal Magic Family Portal.   This form is needed for administrative purposes, not to determine eligibility. This survey allows our school to benefit from various State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I A, At Risk (31s), Title II A, E -Rate, etc. This survey is critical in determining the amount of money the school receives from a variety of supplemental programs. We are asking that you please complete and submit it as soon as possible. Once filled out, please submit a hard copy to the main office of your school.

If we can be of any further assistance, please contact our Food Services Department at 734-419-2118.

Open House – Save the Date!

We will have our Open House on August 25, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  We invite you and your student to come meet teachers, tour the building and pick up important documents with information regarding our school policies and procedures.

Sports Physicals 2022/2023 School Year

A MHSAA pre-participation sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2022 to be considered a valid physical for 2022-23.

Please ensure this form is completed and submitted.  For appointments at the Beaumont Adams Clinic, please call 734-728-2423.

Fall sports tryout information will be shared soon. Keep in mind your child will not be eligible to try-out or practice for any team until we have a current physical on file.
